The University of South Carolina is excited to announce we are accepting applications for an Academic Advisor position. The candidate will collaborate with other Dodie Anderson Academic Enrichment Center staff and campus partners to provide professional-level support and programming for assigned student-athletes. Starting salary is $59,581 and is commensurate with qualifications.
The University of South Carolina is nestled in the heart of downtown Columbia, referred to as COLA. Columbia offers a diverse range of restaurants, activities, and entertainment for all ages with attractive housing options. The university offers some of the top graduate programs throughout the SEC including the law school, business school and hospitality management, just to name a few.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as Academic Advisor to assigned student-athletes in accordance with University of South Carolina, SEC, and NCAA rules.
- Advise students on academic performance, course/major selection, developing a graduation plan, time management, goal setting, career planning, learning and study strategies, test taking, note taking, and other skills for academic success.
- Cultivate and maintain sustainable working relationships with student-athletes, learning specialists, coaches, and campus constituents.
- Meet with recruits in assigned sports to provide an overview of available academic services and effectively communicate our staff philosophy and mission.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Academics and the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree and 3 years of related experience and collegiate experience is strongly preferred, experience with student-athletes is highly desirable.
